Dr. Marilyn S Murphree, 81 of Zanesville died at 11:15 AM Monday, December 14, 2020 at the Genesis Healthcare.
She was born July 2, 1939 in Zanesville, Ohio the daughter of Frank Swingle and Florence Beisser Swingle.
Marilyn was a member of Coburn United Methodist, a Minister at Iliff in Saltillo, a Chaplin for the Christian Motorcycle Group, and retired as a guidance counselor from Philo High School.
She is survived by two step-daughters, Janet (Everett) Havenor and Patti (Jane) Estep; two step-sons, Walter E. Murphree and Sean (Tina) Murphree; 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren; a sister, Rose (Steve) Oliver; and numerous nieces & nephews.
In addition to her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Walter H. Murphree whom she had married in Patriotic style on July 4th 1975 and passed on Jan. 19th 2019 and also a sister, Barbara Bowman.
Marilyn was a life long scholar, she held 2 Doctorates in Theology and Public Administration. Two Masters in Divinity and Christian Ministry. She was a licensed Professional Counselor. She was a published author with many books and a talented musician.
Visitation will be held 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM Thursday, December 17, 2020 at the Bryan & Hardwick Funeral Home with funeral service at 2:30 PM Friday, December 18, 2020 with Pastor Justin Williams officiating. Burial will conclude at the Duncan Falls Cemetery, Duncan Falls, Ohio.
Memorial contributions can be made to Coburn United Methodist Scholarship Fund.
