John D. Pierce, 93 of Zanesville died at 8:39 AM Sunday, December 17, 2017 at his residence under hospice care.
He was born on Tuesday, May 06, 1924 in Zanesville the son of Thomas E. Pierce and Myrtle Grace Church Pierce.
John was a member of Anchor Church and a WWII Navy Veteran. He was the owner & operator of John D. Pierce General Carpentry & Painting and retired in 1988. He was an outdoors person & was an avid hunter. He volunteered at Nursing Homes for over 40 years sharing the Word of God & playing his harmonica along with his brother & other family members.
He is survived by his children; Mollie Dudley of Byesville, Michael (Pennye) Pierce of Sarasota Florida, Sue (Mark) Dunlap of Taylor, MI, Jayne (Randy) Caw of Nashport and Jon (Ethel) Pierce of Frazeysburg; 12 grandchildren, a special pen pal who he considered a grandchild, Emma Rock of Sunbury and 24 great grandchildren; a brother, Thomas Pierce of Chandlersville and a sister Norma (Clifford) Bagley of Zanesville. John was preceded in death in addition to his parents by his wife, Eloise C. (Beachy) Pierce; a daughter, Christine Pierce; nine brothers & sisters, a son-in-law, Al Dudley, a grandchild and a great grandchild.
Friends may call 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM December 29, 2017 at the Bryan & Hardwick Funeral Home where funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM with Pastor Mark Dunlap officiating. Burial with Military Honors will conclude at the Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.
