Jessie Hope Thress, 88, died Wednesday morning, December 21, 2022 at the Licking Memorial Hospital in Newark following a sudden illness. She was born February 12, 1934 in Fairview, OK, the daughter of William Roy Reed and  Maudie L. Ryerson Reed.
 
A longtime resident of Zanesville, Jessie was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, a Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict, and a member of Friendship VII Chapter Sweet Adeline's choir and sang in numerous quartets for many years. She enjoyed yodeling and once tried out for the Grand Ole Opry.  She was also a passionate Buckeye fan and lived and breathed scarlet and gray. Jessie retired from Owens Brockway after 26-years where she worked as a LPN and later in home health care.
 
She is survived by 4 of her 5 Children; Sheila Robinson, Stephen (Linda) Thress,  Mindie Shaw,  and Kevin (Desiree "Kay”) Thress; ten grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren as well as several devoted nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Jessie was preceded in death by her husband, Frank William Thress Jr., two sisters Ruth and Louise, daughter Myra Dovenbarger, and grandchildren, Dionne and Sammy.
 
Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Monday, January 2, 2023 with funeral service to follow at 1:00 PM at the Bryan & Hardwick Funeral Home with Pastor Andrew Wilson officiating. Burial with Military Honors will conclude at the Zanesville Memorial Park.
 
The Bryan & Hardwick Funeral Home, 2318 Maple Ave. Zanesville is in charge of the arrangements.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Central Ohio or the Michael J.
