James "Jim" A. Pierson

James “Jim” Aber Pierson , 90 of Zanesville died at 6:02 PM Saturday, December 8, 2018 at the Genesis Health Care E.R. following a short illness.

He was born March 22, 1928 in McConnellsville, Ohio the son of Kenneth Pierson and Iona Aber Pierson.

Jim was a member of the First Christian Church and a United States Air Force Veteran. He was the Owner and Operator of the Jay Doak Garage Door Company, having retired in 2012 after over 60 years of service. Jim was a life time member of the VFW, a true Ohio State Buckeye fan and an avid golfer and bowler.

He is survived by his two daughters; Carol Layman and Tamara Pierson both of Zanesville; a grandson, Brian Hayes of Zanesville, and many nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death in addition to his parents, by his wife, Gloria "Jean" (Rutter) Pierson, a daughter Jane E. Pierson; a brother Martin Furey, and a sister Elizabeth Coffey.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at the Bryan and Hardwick Funeral Home with funeral service to immediately follow at 6:00 P.M. Private burial will conclude at the Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.
