Harry Boedeker, 80, born in Dayton, Ohio, died August 21, 2017. Son of Erma and Harold Boedeker, and loving father of Heath, he passed away at his home in Zanesville, Ohio after a long battle with cancer. He is survived by his son Heath, his fondest achievement in life, who is living in the Zanesville area, and by daughter in law Rae Gandolf and much loved grand dog Timber. Harry enjoyed frequent visits by many caring friends and his girlfriend, Sheree Asire in his last weeks. In high school, Boedeker worked as an usher for his family owned Maple Drive In Theater before putting his knack for innovation to use in a career that started in manufacturing before he founded Zanesville's first Yamaha dealership. That dealership evolved into Maple Speed and Sport, Maple Mower & Supply, and finally Maple Place Center. In "retirement" he helped his son start HWB Sharpening Service, and ran his office supply manufacturing business until 2017. Passions for chainsaw racing, cars, and watching his son race 3-wheelers fulfilled Harry and kindled many lasting friendships. Harry also loved each of his dogs, and grieved for Missy, who preceded him in death. For his ornery yet happy, self-motivated nature, Harry will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Harry will be honored with private graveside services at his family's plot in Dayton. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The Animal Shelter Society, in the name of Missy Boedeker. The Bryan & Hardwick Funeral Home, 2318 Maple Ave. Zanesville is in charge of the arrangements.
