Gloria J. McGee , 86 of Zanesville died Sunday, February 11, 2018 at her home following a short illness.
She was born on March 28, 1931 in Crooksville, OH the daughter of George Schmotter and Hazel Ruby Hale Schmotter.
Gloria was a member of Sonara United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of the Cameo Beauty School and a retired Beautician who owned her own shop in Philo. She also taught at the Carousel Beauty School. She lived in Philo until 1985 & then moved to Zanesville. Gloria was also an over 50-year member of the Eastern Star, Olive Branch Chapter #251 in Duncan Falls and the Ohio Arts & Crafts Guild.
She is survived by her son, Dale L. Van Horn & a daughter Cathy E. Wartenbee both of Zanesville; two step sons, Kenneth R. (Julie) McGee of New Concord and Richard "Rich" L. (Rhonda) McGee of Norwhich; Seven Grandchildren & Ten great grandchildren. Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert R. McGee; her first husband, Dexter C. Van Horn and a daughter–in-law, Lee Ann Van Horn.
Friends may call 4-7 PM on Friday, February 16, 2018 at the Bryan & Hardwick Funeral Home where funeral service will be held at 7:00 PM. Burial will conclude at a later date in Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery, Military Ave.
Memorial contributions can be made to Genesis Hospice & Palliative Care, 713 Forest Ave. or to the Sonora United Methodist Church, 4540 Old Country Ln, Zanesville, OH 43701.
