Clarence "Bub" H. Porter, 92 of Zanesville died at 2:30 PM Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family under the care of Genesis Hospice.
He was born on February 8, 1925 in Zanesville, the son of Benjamin McKinley Porter and Helen Lucinda Frick Porter.
Bub was a Lifetime member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. He retired as supervisor from Brockway Glass after over 44 years of service. Bub enjoyed farming and had a love for John Deere tractors. He was an army veteran of World War II and was under General Patton in the Battle of the Bulge. He also loved attending the Muskingum County Fair, was a member of the Muskingum County Cattleman’s Association, and a member of the farm bureau.
He is survived by two sons, Dave (Tonia) Porter and Jim (Darlene) Porter; 6 grandchildren; Kyle Porter, Kasey Porter, Todd Howard, Tyler Howard, Joshua Porter & Sarah Porter and 8 Great Grandchildren; a sister, Liz Snider and numerous nieces & nephews.
The family would also like to acknowledge and thank his caregivers, Melva, Jenny, and Cheryl and Genesis Hospice and Palliative care.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Helen M. Greiner Porter who passed away November 28, 2016; a brother Ralph F. Porter and a sister Julia G. Miller.
Friends may call 2:00 PM & 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM & 8:00 PM on Thursday, February 01, 2018 at the Bryan & Hardwick Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 11:00:00 AM with visitation one hour before on Friday, February 2, 2018 at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastor Andrew Wilson officiating. Burial will conclude with military honors at the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Zanesville.
