Charles "Charlie" F. McLoughlin Sr., 88, of Zanesville passed on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at The Oaks at Bethesda.
He was born November 11, 1935, in Zanesville, Ohio the son of the late William Leo "Mac" McLoughlin and Mary Louise Hillis McLoughlin.
Charlie was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council
# 505, served in the Ohio National Guard where he made it his life’s career serving 40 years, retiring November 11, 2012. He was also President and caretaker for Mattingly Cemetery Association for over 40 years. His hobbies included working on lawn mowers for family and friends, gardening, fishing and bowling. Charlie enjoyed attending many sporting events and going to the races.
He is survived by his children, Lisa (Curt) Ruff, Linda (Dean) Moore, Charles “Chuck” McLoughlin, Jr, and Brent (Brandy) McLoughlin. Preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Jean McLoughlin and his son, Lance David McLoughlin. Grandchildren; Kyle (Colleen) Moore, Shelby Ruff, Lauren (Branson) McLoughlin Ross, Bryce McLoughlin, Landon McLoughlin, Ainsley McLoughlin and Jasper McLoughlin. Great Grand Children; Tyler Moore, Jackson Moore, and Dayten Ross. His siblings; Alan (Diane) McLoughlin, Jane Mills, Martha Watson, Kathleen (John) Dinan, Marie (Bill) Miller and Virginia Porter; four sisters-in law: Joan McLoughlin, Shirley (Dave) Coakley, Marge McLoughlin and Sharon McLoughlin; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by his Wife, Beverly “Bev” Jean Walters McLoughlin; his brothers; Bernard McLoughlin, Patrick “Pat” McLoughlin, Paul “Jake” McLoughlin, John A. “Ambrose” McLoughlin, Dennis McLoughlin, two infant brothers, Donald & William McLoughlin, two brothers-in-laws: Steve Porter and Robert “Bob” Mills.
Visitation will be held 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at the Bryan & Hardwick Funeral Home. Funeral mass celebrated at 10:30 AM on Friday, March 22, 2024, at the St. Mary Catholic Church, 6280 St. Marys Road, Nashport, Ohio with Fr. Martin Ralko as celebrant. Burial will conclude at Mattingly Settlement Cemetery.
